Gas cooktop flame adjustment

What Is a Certificate of Compliance and Why Does Your Restaurant Need One?

What Is a Certificate of Compliance?

A Certificate of Compliance (CoC) is a legal document issued by a licensed gas fitter after gas work is done. It confirms the work meets AS/NZS 5601.1 and AS 4575 standards.

Why Your Kitchen Needs One

  • It’s a legal requirement in Victoria for all gasfitting work
  • Your insurer may reject claims if gas work was done without one
  • Council and health inspectors can ask for it at any time
  • Aged care and schools need documented compliance
  • Many commercial leases require it

What Happens Without One

Fines, insurance claim rejection, and potential closure orders from council or WorkSafe.

How We Handle It

We issue a Certificate of Compliance when required — for repairs, servicing, and installations. You get a copy and we lodge it with the authority.
